Try it first: book a free trial day, and a member will show you round. If you join and it's not for you, say so within your first month and we'll refund it.
After your first month, cancelling or moving down to a cheaper plan takes 30 days' notice. Half days starting/ending around 1pm are just fine. 18% discount if you (and the organisation paying your membership) are not VAT registered. Only one discount/offer can be used at any one time.
Your employer can pay: we invoice companies directly, and a desk here costs less than a monthly train ticket to London. Still too expensive? Apply for Sponsored Membership.
Things we don't have
We chose not to have these. Better you know before your trial day.
No private offices, no team desks, no staff. Everyone in the room is an individual, like you. We don't subsidise coworking by renting offices to teams, because then the teams would set the tone.
One meeting room and one phone booth. They're shared between about 75 members. If your job is mostly phone calls, we're not the right space.
No non-member meeting room bookings. The Cabin is for members.
Scruffy, not dirty. No fit-out money has ever been spent here. The cleaner comes two days a week, and more often when it's busy. If you want a place that makes you say "wow" when you walk in, there are spaces in Brighton that do that very well.
We don't count your days. The plans are on trust. Pick the one you'll actually use.
Other spaces do some things better. If you need a private office, a hosted meeting room to impress a client, a terrace, or a second building in Hove, other Brighton spaces have them and we don't. Their unlimited plans start at £265; ours is £250, with a monitor on every desk.
I joined in 2012 just after my eldest son was born. I was a former art student who had turned into a web designer.
It was clear from day one that The Skiff was special. Being around developers and creators gave me the confidence to start learning coding and new technologies. It ultimately came to define my business.
A chance encounter in The Skiff led to making and publishing games. Would any of that happened without The Skiff? Maybe. But I'm not so sure.

Support when you need it
Too many people, particularly from groups underrepresented in tech, miss out on getting to know people who work the way we work because membership costs too much.
We offer free and heavily reduced coworking for three months at a time, with priority for people from groups underrepresented in tech. Funded by under-used coworking memberships and sponsors.
